- Barcelona continue to push for Coutinho
- No new signing in sight.
- Pressure intensifies ahead of season kick off.
For a club on the verge of losing their star man, it would appear Liverpool are quite confident in their ability to hold on to the player but this is not the case and their transfer plans haven't really come to fruition.
Most of the players they have shown interest in have either been swept away by rivals or are unwilling to ply their trades at the Merseyside Club.
With regards to Coutinho, this is certainly not how the Club's owners, Fenway Sporting Group (FSG) pictured things would turn out when they bought him for a mere £8.5 and although they would fetch huge profits from selling him to a club like Barcelona, the backlash from supporters would be terrible. Fans have for long suggested that FSG were more concerned about profits in the way they ran the club and if this sale should eventually go through, it would only add to such speculations.
Away from the Coutinho Saga, Liverpool have so far failed to find a suitable replacement for their star man should he leave the club or even other sufficient reinforcements for the season ahead. With the first match of the season fast approaching, Liverpool would need to take drastic measures to ensure this doesn't hunt them throughout the season.
