Spanish international, Juan Mata, has been offered a role at Manchester United by Coach Jose Mourinho.
According to reports from The Sun, Mourinho informed Mata that he can remain at United, if he accepts a reduced role in the team.
The Sun states further that Mata believes if he performs well during the pre-season tour, he can retain his place at Old Trafford.
Last season, the Spanish international scored 10 times while providing 11 assists for United.
He still has another two-years left on his contract.
Mourinho sold Mata to the Red Devil's for £37m while he was manager of Chelsea because he believed the midfield playmaker did not fit into his game plan.
Mata's claim for a first team place intensified following the signing of Henrikh Mkhitaryan from Borussia Dortmund earlier this month.
According to reports from UK's Daily Mail, Mata wants to stay on at Old Trafford, and is willing to fight for his place in the United team.
