After endorsing his candidacy, Edo State PDP leaders chose via consensus over the weekend, Mr. John Yakubu, as the  running mate to the PDP candidate, Pastor Ize-Iyamu.
Yakubu is a grassroots Politician and former Chairman of Esan North East Local Government.
The decision was taken at a meeting in Benin, the Edo-State Capital, which had in attendance, party elders, Ize-Iyamu, Yakubu, and other contenders.
It would be recalled that the PDP had earlier zoned the position of the running mate of its Governorship candidate to the Edo Central district.
Other notable Edo Politicians who had been touted for the position include Friday Itulah, Hon Akhere Ugbesia, Hon Felix Akhabue, Barrister (Mrs) Philomena Ihenyen, and Felix Imosili. They were also present at the meeting.
