Rochas Okorocha, the Imo State governor is of the opinion that the APC will be in power both at the center and many other states of the federation, especially Imo State for the next 24 years. Some had linked his utterance to what obtains when the PDP was in power; it would be recalled that PDP stalwarts of those days made it their avowed duty to announce the immortality of the party. The Imo State governor has plans to spread the fame of the APC all across the South Eastern region too and he hopes for better election results for APC in coming polls.

The governor stated that the ruling party in the state, APC, will remain very strong and vibrant to ensure the opposition has no place in government in the nearest future, at least for the next 24 years. He said all modalities required to bring this dream to reality will be put in place and he sought for the help and contributions of those present at the meeting in order to bring this dream to reality. 

Rochas Okorocha made this declaration on Thursday while having meeting with the officials and elders of the All Progressive Congress in Imo State. Additionally, he promised those present at the meeting that he would soon appoint commissioners and that he had plans to pay up all outstanding salaries in the nearest future.

According to the government, delay in the appointment of commissioners is due to a number of reformations his administration is carrying out to make the commissioners more effective and to restructure the ministries so that they can meet with the needs and expectations of the electorates.

 The governor also stated his desire to conduct local government elections on time. He however stated that his hands are tied on this matter due to the existing court cases that are involving the local government councils. He promised that local government elections would be conducted the moment the court cases are over. He told those present at the meeting that his government would have to stick to transition committee to run the affairs of the local councils pending the time the new local council election is conducted.     

He told those present at the meeting that he would create the Community Government Council and restructure it towards making it far stronger than it was in times past. He stated categorically that the performance of the APC at the polls will be reviewed at all levels in preparation for coming elections.

He added that he would set up committee that will be saddled with the responsibility of looking into reports or cased of erring party members especially during elections.  He further reiterated his commitment to the sustenance of the state’s prosperity, adding that his administration will do everything possible to sanitize the system of things in the state.   

Rochas Okorocha further promised that his administration will organize workshops for party officials at every level in the state. He said the purpose of this is to keep the party members fully informed about what their roles are in the state.
