APC alleges arrest and detention of it's members in Zamfara

Politicians in the camp of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Zamfara are being hounded and detained, the chairman of the state chapter of the party, Lawal Liman, has alleged. Liman, however, noted that it was usual to have an opposition party suffer in any Nigerian state governed by another political organisation like in Zamfara.
According to the APC chairman, who met with his counterparts in 14 local government areas of the state, the government headed by Bello Matawalle has engaged in a witch-hunt exercise. While commending the APC members for their resilience, he added: “I am appealing to members of the APC in Zamfara to consider the challenges as a test from God. “We are not discouraged on what is happening to our members, APC supporters remain intact in Zamfara under the leadership of Alhaji Abdul’aziz Yari." The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that he insisted that his party remained in the strongest position among all in the country in spite of the challenge. He said the meeting was held to discuss issues the party has been faced with just as he warned the judiciary in the state not to rubbish its integrity by giving itself up to the bidding of the government. He insisted that his political organisation will continue to act in line with democratic dictates.
