Gov poll: IG deploys AIG, 25,000 cops in Edo

To ensure a hitch free polls in the Edo guber polls on Saturday, the Acting Inspector General of Police Ibrahim Idris, has deployed a Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG), an Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIG) and three Commissioners of Police (CPs) to supervise the election.
The IGP also deployed over 25,000 police men to the state.
The Force Public Relations Officer, Don Awunah, in a statement yesterday said the IGP is devoted to ensuring that the election is conducted in a peaceful and secure atmosphere in line with the electoral laws of Nigeria.
According to the statement, "These Police personnel comprises the Police Mobile Force (PMF), the Counter Terrorism Units (CTU), the Anti bomb Squad (EOD), the Marine Police, conventional policemen, the Armament Unit, personnel from Force Criminal Intelligence and
Investigation Department (FCIID), Force Intelligence Bureau (FIB) and the Sniffer Dog Section.
"In addition, the Police aerial surveillance helicopters and gun boats, 10 additional Armoured Personnel Carriers (APC) and 550 patrol vehicles will be deployed to cover all the polling units, rack centres, collating centres, riverine areas and difficult terrains".
