Senate takes major action against alleged sale of NPA appointment letters for N3m

The Nigerian Senate on Monday, February 24, said it would soon launch an investigation into the alleged sale of Nigerian Port Authority (NPA) employment letters by the Federal Character Commission (FCC) for N3 million.

According to Daily Trust, Senator Danjuma La’ah, the chairman of Senate's committee on FCC and Inter-Governmental Affairs in Abuja said it was brought to their attention that a man purchased the NPA job from FCC for N3m. La’ah who vowed to get to the root of the allegation said that the committee has been receiving reports of underhand dealings going on at the FCC, Vanguard reports. The lawmaker said: “The Senate Committee on Federal Character Commission has been investigating and we are doing everything possible to unravel those behind sales of jobs there. I got reports from different people on sales of jobs going on at the Federal Character Commission (FCC). Appointment into government offices for sales at the Federal Character Commission is real. “Someone has forwarded to me a text which is in my phone that he purchased Nigeria Ports Authority job from the Federal Character Commission at N3 million."
