Senate summons accountant general over failure to explain N2.9b IPPIS funds

Nigeria senators on Tuesday, February 18, expressed anger over the failure of Idris Ahmed, the Accountant General of the Federation (AGF), to present the 2015 Integrated Payroll and Personnel Information System (IPPIS) details for scrutiny.

According to reports, The senators on the panel of public account during an audit query against the office of the Accountant General of the Federation (AGF) questioned why Adiro Emmanuel, a director from the AGF’s office could not answer questions put forward to him by members of the Senate panel. The lawmakers were angered by Emmanuel’s appeal for more time to get the document from the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN). Senator Mathew Urhoghide, the chairman of the committee wondered why the AGF’s office was yet to make the documents available since 2015. “So, there is no document for IPPS since 2015. You were issued query three years ago on the same document and up till now, you are yet to present the document,” he said. The lawmakers also asked the accountant general to make himself available when the panel sits two weeks.
