Insecurity: Falana discloses how President Buhari is reportedly breaking the law

A renowned lawyer, Femi Falana, has said President Muhammadu Buhari breaking the law by refusing to sack the current set of security service chiefs. Falana told Channels TV on Monday, February 17, that by refusing to replace the service chiefs, the president is violating the law mandating the retirement of military officers who have served for 35 years or have reached the age of 60. He said there is no provision empowering the president to extend the tenure of service chiefs beyond the period stipulated by law. Falana argued that the fact that such an extension had been done before does not make it right. "There is equality before the law, so you can’t extend the service of certain officers while you ask others to go after 35 years of service or the attainment of 60 years of age." Falana noted that a legal action will be filed against the president for extending the tenure of service chiefs.
