South South Governors Should Copy Amotekun To Secure Their People - PDP chief

A chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Chief Sunny Onuesoke, is passing a message to south south governors not to sit aloof as their counterparts in the south west make efforts to effectively secure their people.

Onuesoke, in an interview with New Telegraph, charged the governors in the oil-rich region of Nigeria to consider a joint security structure for the protection of residents in their domains just like Amotekun, just formed recently in south west. "The south south must wake up to the current reality in the country. Security of lives and property of the people has gone beyond what should be left alone with the federal government," Onuesoke warned. Describing Nigeria as being in a critical point, the PDP chief said it is never out of place to have a security structure like Amotekun and the south south should come up with its version to be urgently backed with enabling laws. He said like the south west, the south south governors must come together irrespective of party affiliations and with the aim of unity and peace in the region. "They must put the overall interest of the region first before anything else. Unfortunately, the body language of the governors from the south south region has not shown any promising light in that direction. "Without doubt, if our governors in the south south region can come together beyond politics and party lines to forge a common front for the development of the region, south south would be the envy of other regions across the nation due to its wealth and natural resources," he said.
