Again, Magu decries UK’s refusal to extradite Allison-Madueke

The acting chairman of Nigeria's anti-graft agency, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has accused the United Kingdom of refusing to extradite a former minister of petroleum, Diezani Alison-Madueke to Nigeria.

Ibrahim Magu while receiving the “Institution of the Decade” award for the EFCC on Tuesday, January 21, said the government of the United Kingdom despite all attempts by the Federal Government to bring Diezani back to face trial for alleged money laundering in Nigeria has been futile. The ceremony which was organised by Thisday in commemoration of its 25th anniversary took place at the Eko Hotels and Suites, Victoria Island, Lagos. Magu said that the commission at the moment already had enough evidence at its disposal to prosecute the former minister who has been in the UK since 2015. He said the looted funs traced to Diezani and many of her accomplices could be used to keep the nation’s economy rolling once recovered. Magu said Alison-Madueke's prosecution over money laundering charges has dragged for more than four years with no result.
