El-Zakzaky : Iran gives details of meeting with Buhari over Shi'te leader
Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman, Abbas Mousavi, has said the country is in talks with President Muhammadu Buhari government over the case of the leader of the Islamic Movement in Nigeria, IMN, Sheikh Ibrahim El-Zakzaky.
Mousavi disclosed that the Iranian government through diplomatic contacts, was in line with the Nigerian government to help improve El-Zakzaky health. It can be recalled that El-Zakzaky and his wife were on Friday transferred from the custody of the Department of State Services, DSS, to Kaduna Central Prison, as ordered by Kaduna State High Court. Abbas Mousavi told reporters in Tehran, capital of Iran on Sunday that President Buhari and Iranian Vice President for Economic Affairs, Mohammad Nahavandian, recently met in Malabo, Equatorial Guinea, on a range of issues, including El- Zakzaky’s case. According to him, the meeting took place on the sidelines of the 5th Summit of Gas Exporting Countries Forum (GECF) in Equatorial Guinea. We hope that the consultations and arrangements that are being made with Nigerian government will expedite the settlement of this El-Zakzaky issue,” the Iranian official added. Zakzaky has been under arrest since December 2015, when his home in the town of Zaria was raided by Nigerian forces.
