Allen Onyeama: Presidential aide Onochie indicts businessman over US fraud charges

Lauretta Onochie, a senior special assistant to President Muhammadu Buhari on social media, has indicted Allen Onyeama, businessman and owner of Air Peace, who is facing issues of alleged money laundering with the United States of America.
Onochie, who made her position on the crisis known on social media, alleged that the funds Onyeama moved about belong to the Niger Delta and that she is interested in the issue because she is from the region. The presidential aide had personally reacted in a series of tweets to the indictment of Onyeama by the US, using the first person singular ‘I’ and saying she was not fooled when the businessman carried out humanitarian services recently. However, the use of ‘I’ was frowned at by a Nigerian, Uche Ama. In replying Ama, Onochie said: “I was not fooled. I repeat. Yes, I have personal interest. I'm a Niger Deltan. The funds he allegedly moved about belong to me and others from the region. Do you now get it?” In her message, Onochie also said: “I do not understand what President Muhammadu Buhari has to do with Mr Onyeama of Air Peace being indicted and charged in the USA. According to our attorney general, the federal government has not even been informed of the situation.” According to her, the American laws go after those who break them. She added: “What a man sows....How much has Nigeria invested in the Niger Delta Amnesty Programme, NDDC & 13% derivation funds? All, mostly in a black hole “Do we know the extent of poverty, ignorance and disease in the Niger Delta? Please let America too help us see how Niger Delta underdeveloped Niger Delta.” She noted: "Those of us from the Niger Delta who are the direct beneficiaries of the sufferings that emanated from the looting of our wealth, will tackle them. It's our war that is being fought."
