These set of people will not escape arrest in Kogi, Bayelsa - ICPC
The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) has warned prospective vote buyers and sellers during the elections in Bayelsa and Kogi states would not go without justice.
The ICPC issued the warning in a statement by Rasheedat Okoduwa, its spokesperson, ahead of the elections slated for Saturday, November 16. The commission said it was prepared to monitor the elections just as it warned corrupt politicians and leaders not to attempt to carry out actions that could negatively impact on the election. The commission added that its participation in the elections is sequel to an invitation by the chairman of the Independent National Election Commission (INEC), Prof Mahmood Yakubu. The commission’s operatives have therefore been primed to deal appropriately with perpetrators of any acts of corruption in accordance with the law, no matter their social status in both gubernatorial elections. “Voters in both states are therefore enjoined to go out on election day and perform their civic obligations, while eschewing all acts that can make them run afoul of the law,” the ICPC said.
