Police officer killed as burning 6 storey building collapses in Lagos

A burning six-storey building in Lagos Island has caused the death of a policeman, who was drafted to the scene with his colleagues to control the crowd that gathered.
        According to reports, a part of the burning building collapsed on the policeman as he was carrying out his official duty of controlling the surging crowd at the scene of the incident. The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the six-storey building is located at 43 Martins Street, Lagos Island. It collapsed at about 8:30 pm on Tuesday, November 5, while fire fighters and rescue workers made continued efforts to douse the inferno. Olanrewaju Elegushi, an aide to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos, confirmed the death of the policeman late Tuesday, November 5. Elegushi disclosed that the policeman, who was severely wounded, died in hospital.
