NYSC says there is no directive yet on new wage payment to corps members
Serving corps members who have been expecting to be paid N30,000 new minimum wage will have to wait a little longer as the national service scheme said there is no directive yet for the commencement of the payment.
This was disclosed to reporters in Abuja by Brigadier-General Shuaibu Ibrahim, director-general of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC). According to Daily Trust, Shuaibu said the payment can only commence after the minister of finance gives a directive to that effect. However, he assured once again that corps members should have no worries because they would definitely benefit from the new wage. Going further, he urged local governments to do more for corps members as the NYSC acts specifically spells this out. On his part, Sunday Dare, the minister of youths and sports development, also urged state and local governments to provide an enabling environment for corps members.
