Ex-Amnesty boss arraigned over N975m fraud

A former presidential amnesty programme boss, Brigadier General Tarelah Paul Boroh (retd) and Hanafi Musa Moriki were on Thursday, October 3, arraigned by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) before a high court of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) in Abuja.
The EFCC arraigned the first and second defendants on a nine-count charge bordering on theft of N974,768,466 and $1,914,000 respectively, both of them denied the charges. Following the not-guilty pleas of the accused, their lawyers prayed the court presided over by Justice O. O. Goodluck to grant them bail, a move which was opposed by the prosecuting counsel, Aisha A.T Habib. However, Justice Goodluck granted the first and second defendants bail terms of N2 million and N20 million. Added to their bail terms, Boroh and Moriki were ordered to submit their international passports with the court and give two sureties not below the level of assistant director in the federal civil service.
