Professor Sadiq Radda who is the executive secretary of the Presidential Advisory Committee Against Corruption has revealed that N900 billion misappropriated by National Assembly members has been recovered.
        According to reports that Radda made this revelation on the sideline of the 14th Anti-Corruption Situation Room (ACSR) in Maiduguri, Borno’s capital. He said the money which was meant for constituency projects and allocated to lawmakers from both chambers were looted. The anti-corruption crusader however said the money has been recovered by the Independent Corrupt Practises Commission (ICPC). He said: “ICPC has recovered about N900 billion constituency projects fund from some National Assembly members.” Radda also said a committee will also be established on the issue of security votes and governors who mismanage such funds will face the book. He said: “People will be accountable. No governor will go free under the guise of security votes. People must be accountable.” “Fight against corruption should not be tagged political because those found and arrested over corruption issues were not on the basis of their parties or religion. It is because of their action while holding public office.” He said the fight against corruption which has largely been fought at the federal level will now also focus on states. Radda said: “We are developing key interest at the state level.” He encouraged Nigerians to report cases of corruption to the ICPC and its counterpart, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission.
