The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has called upon by the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) to help track and arrest unqualified and fraudulent graduates who are being mobilised to partake in the scheme.The call was made by Brigadier General Shuaibu Ibrahim, the director general of the NYSC to the EFCC's acting chairman, Ibrahim Magu in Abuja, The Nation reports.
        Ibrahim, through a statement by the scheme's chief spokesperson, Adenike Adeyemi, cried out over the rising rate of corruption in the country, adding that the crusade against criminality should be embarked on by everyone. Speaking to Magu, the NYSC boss said: “Mr Chairman, it is very unfortunate that some institutions of higher learning, particularly in Cotonou, Benin Republic, present to us people who didn’t go to the four walls of the university as graduates for mobilisation. Currently, we are investigating some of such so-called graduates, many of whom cannot write or spell any word in English. In his response, Magu vowed to support the scheme in fishing out fraudsters who bring shame to the country through their lawless activities, especially in the education sector. The EFCC chief commended the efforts of corps members for sensitising citizens on the dangers of corruption through the anti-graft Community Development Service (CDS) groups. Ibrahim said that the move by the NYSC will hopefully deter tertiary institutions in the country. He said unqualified graduates should not be enrolled in the forthcoming Batch B mobilisation in June, 2019.
