Issue travel documents to stranded Nigerians - Reps tell Libyan mission

The Nigerian Mission in Libya has been urged by the House of Representatives to issue travel documents to stranded Nigerians in the North African country, to enable them return home.
The lawmakers arrived at the decision, following a motion raised in plenary by Hon Chukwuma Imeoji. A report in The Guardian also stated that the International Organisation for Migration announced that 63, 071 out of the 641,398 migrants in Libya are from Nigeria. During plenary, Imeoji also drew the House’s attention to the high number of Nigerians being killed in Libyan detention centers. He noted that there could be further loss of Nigerian lives as a result of the ongoing battle for the control of Tripoli, Libya’s capital city.
