Gov. Abdulrazaq pays late night visit to Kwara Hospital
In continuation of his unscheduled visits to state government institutions in Kwara State, Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq Wednesday, stormed the state Specialist Hospital, Sobi, Alagbado area of Ilorin at about 11.05 pm.
He arrived the premises of the hospital accompanied by Prof. Wale Suleiman to the surprise of doctors and nurses who could not hide their joy at seeing him to get a first hand information on the level of deterioration experienced in the hospital with the hope that the needful would be done soonest. The is coming days after the Governor approved N232m to revamp the health sector. Dr Yusuf Abbas Eletu, who conducted the governor and his entourage round the hospital, reiterated their readiness to work, but the unavailability of basic needs have made them professionally handicapped over the years. He listed lack of drugs, lack of quality water supply, unavailability of electricity as they are currently running on power generating sets which was evident as at the time of the visit by the governor as the partial lighting within the hospital premises did not project the standard of the state-owned specialist hospital well. Governor Abdulrazaq, while speaking, showed concern about the poor salaries of the doctors and nurses and appreciated them for choosing not to leave the state, despite the unfavorable conditions but promised to look into all necessary factors that will make Telemedicine and Health Insurance work in the state. The governor charged the doctors, nurses and other staff not to relent as the Kwara which they will be proud to serve is already here.
