DSS, DHQ arrest 14 suspects linked to murder of ex CDS Badeh
14 suspects have been arrested by detectives from the DHQ and DSS in connection with the murder of the former chief of defence staff, Air Chief Marshal Alex Badeh.
The suspects were scheduled to be paraded on Tuesday, June 25 but the event was postponed, Five suspects said to be linked to the murder had previously been paraded by the Nigerian Police Force in December 2018. It was gathered that the suspects were due to be paraded before the media on Tuesday, June 25 at the DHQ Garrison in Mogadishu Cantonment, Abuja. However, due to what officials of the DHQ described as “some unforeseen hitches”, the parade was postponed. Five of the suspects were brought to the venue of the briefings at about 1:42pm before the postponement. The acting director of defence information, Col Onyema Nwachukwu, subsequently pleaded with journalists that a new date would be communicated as soon as possible. Five suspects said to be linked to the murder had previously been paraded by the Nigerian Police Force in December 2018. Among the suspects was one Shuaibu Rabo, 25, who said the former CDS was killed while they were trying to rob him of money meant for the purchase of a new farmland. The claim was, however, debunked by a member of Badeh’s family who said there was no money with the ex CDS at the time he was killed. Despite the initial parade, however, the military and DSS followed up the matter as an investigative panel was constituted by the CDS, Gen Olonisakin, to dig deep into the matter.
