Police arrests second suspect involved in killing of ex-Anambra lawmaker
A second suspect who had participated in the dastardly killing of a former lawmaker in Anambra State and president general of Nimo community, Hon Frank-Anthony Igboka has been arrested.
The former lawmaker was three weeks ago riddled with bullets in his Chevrolet SUV in Oye Nimo market at about 8pm. Sources from his community attributed his killing to cultists, who had been ravaging the community before he became the president general and banished the cultists from the community. Governor of the state, Chief Willie Obiano had placed a N5million bounty on the heads of the killers for anyone with information that could lead to their arrest, but later increased it to N15million after the kingpin of the killer gang known as Transformer was arrested a week ago. State police commissioner, CP Mustapha Dandaura in a press briefing on Monday said a second participant in the killing has been arrested. He said, Last week Monday, 29/4/2019 I paraded one of the kingpins who actively participated in the dastardly act and declared three others wanted. It would also be recalled that in the same vein, His Excellency, Governor Willie Obiano increased the reward to Five Million Naira (#5000,000) on each of the three suspects declared wanted in order to fastrack Police investigation. In view of the foregoing and following credible intelligence report, the Command Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) had on Friday 03/5/2019 at about 7:30pm arrested the second principal suspect, one Okoye Ernest Chinwe aka (IBB) ‘m’ aged 34 years of Obosi in Idemili North LGA of Anambra State who was initially concealed and later mentioned by the first suspect following discreet investigation. The suspect was traced and arrested in his hideout at old INEC road Awka. Upon interrogation, he confessed to being among the gang members that shot and killed the President General and is assisting the Police with useful information that could lead to unveiling the circumstances surrounding the incident and arrest other fleeing accomplices. Dandaura thanked the Governor of the state, Willie Obiano and the people of Anambra State whom he said were observed to have been very cooperative with the law enforcement agencies in the quest to arrest the killers of the former lawmaker.
