Police arrest 264 suspected criminals in Anambra
The Commissioner of Police in Anambra, Mr Mustapha Dandaura has said that a total of 264 suspected criminal elements were arrested in the state in the month of April. Dandaura said the arrested suspects included armed robbers, kidnappers, car snatchers, cultists and ‘one-chance’ bus operators.
The police commissioner, who briefed journalists at the state police command headquarters, said police in the state under his watch were winning the war against criminality. He said, “This month has been a blessing to our command and we have recorded the arrest of 264 suspected criminals, out of which 231 are cultists. Sixteen are one chance robbery syndicate, four are suspected car snatchers, three suspected kidnappers and 10 suspected armed robbers. He continued that, “total exhibits recovered are as follows: two AK 47 rifles, one Beretta Pistol, two Double Barrel guns, two Revolver Pistols, two fabricated guns, two Toy guns, 160 ammunition of 7.62 mm, 16 cartridges, 42 of .9mm life ammunition. Others are two Toyota Corolla vehicles stolen at gunpoint, One Rav4 jeep stolen from Rivers State, Three L 300 Mitsubishi buses used for one chance robbery, One Lexus Car, One Toyota Carina, Eight bags and two drums of Dry leaves suspected to be Cannabis Sativa, Three Axes, One Dagger and One Machete. Dandaura said the command would not relent in ensuring the safety of the people of the state and the safety of their property while warning criminal elements to desist from indulging in untoward activities.
