Ex-Ekiti governor Fayose pleads not guilty to money laundering allegations, remanded in EFCC custody

Mr. Ayodele Fayose, the immediate past governor of Ekiti state has pleaded not guilty to allegations laid against him by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) of misappropriating N30.8 billion.
The EFCC charged Fayose before a Federal High Court in Lagos, with an 11-count charge over alleged money laundering, with the ex-governor pleading not guilty to all charges.
After entertaining submission of counsels, Justice Mojisola Olatoregun ordered that Fayose be remanded in EFCC's Custody after a plea by Fayose's Counsel, Mr. Kalu Agabi (a Senior Advocate and former Attorney General of the Federation) pointing out that the bail application has been filed.
Counsel to EFCC, Mr Rotimi Oyedepo, confirmed service of the bail application but told the court that he required time to reply.
The Justice adjourned the case till Wednesday, October 24, 2018.
