Flood ravages 8 Kano LGAs

Emergency personnels from the Kano State Emergency Relief and Rehabilitation Agency (SERERA) has been deployed to eight local governments in the state which were recently affected by flooding.
The Executive Secretary of the agency, Alhaji Ali Bashir, said the team deployed had been tasked with assessing the level of damage done by the flood and provide a report on the situation.
The local government areas include Rimin Gado, Tofa, Dawakin Tofa, Gwarzo, Danbatta, Kabo, Gezawa and Gabasawa, 7 of which have already been visited by the emergency team.
"The team has so far visited and assessed the situation in Rimin Gado, Danbatta, Gezawa, Gwarzo, Tofa, Dawakin Tofa and Kabo local government areas, Bashir said speaking to reporters from the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN).
He added: "As I am talking to you now, we are in Gabasawa Local Government Area, assessing the damage caused by the flooding in the area".
"We cannot give you the exact number of persons or houses affected until we finish the assignment."
According to NAN, no fewer than three people were reported to have died and several houses destroyed in Kiru Local Government Area of the state, following a heavy rainfall on Monday.
