Buhari officially declares 2019 re-election bid

President Muhammadu Buhari has officially announced that he will running for a second term in office. Buhari disclosed this during a meeting of the National Executive Committee (NEC) of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) leadership on Monday.
Special adviser to the President on New media and engagement, Bashir Ahmad, via a tweet from his official handle which read: "President Muhammadu Buhari has just officially announced his intention to seek re-election in 2019."
Others including the national publicity secretary of the APC, Bolaji Abdullahi and the Chief Whip, House of Representatives, Alhassan Ado Doguwa all confirmed the announcement to journalists in Abuja after the meeting
Kaduna State governor and strong ally of the president, Nasir El-Rufai also made the announcement in a tweet on his verified Twitter handle.
Attendees at the NEC meeting include the Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, Senate President Bukola Saraki, Speaker of the House of Representatives Yakubu Dogara and the 24 APC state governors.
