The President of the United States Donald Trump has vehemently denied allegations that his Secretary of State Rex Tillerson had threatened to resign and had to be persuaded to stay even after calling the President a moron.
Although no comments have been received from Tillerson, President Trump has debunked these rumours and tagged them as fake news. He also accused broadcasting house NBC of displaying very low reporting standards for not verifying the information from him.
"Rex Tillerson never threatened to resign," Trump said in his most direct refutation of the resignation report. "This is Fake News put out by @NBCNews. Low news and reporting standards. No verification from me."
If these rumours have any truth in them, it would be very worrying for Donald Trump whose administration and cabinet was starting to take shape after several high profile resignations had initially rocked his ship.
