There were no bombings of oil facilities in Imo- Army debunks NDRS claims

Contrary to recent reports by a new militant group, the Niger Delta Red Squad, NDRS, that it had bombed oil installations in Imo State, the Brigade Commander of 34 Artillery Brigade, Obinze, Owerri West local council area of Imo State,  Brigadier-General Kay Ishiaku, on Monday, dismissed the claim.

While fielding questions from newsmen in Owerri, the Imo State Capital, Ishiaku however warned that his Command would not take kindly to any group with satanic intents.

"A new militant group recently claimed that it  bombed oil pipelines in the state. I must tell you that this is not true. No such thing took place in this state. I must however warn that this Command will not look kindly on any such group with satanic intents," Brigadier-General Ishiaku said.

Instead of engaging in bombing oil pipelines and facilities, Ishiaku advised the group to solve its problems through dialogue.

In his words: "Violence does not and can never solve problems. It is advisable for the group to adopt dialogue instead of the destruction of oil pipelines and facilities. They should realize that all such activities resulted to the pollution of the environment   and engineering undue suffering among the citizenry."
