JNDLF yet to fire missile as slated time of onset passes

There was calm in the Niger-Delta regions as at 5.00pm local time on Tuesday; as the JNDLF failed to launch any missiles. The militant group had earlier caused panic in the region, as it threatened to launch six missiles and bomb certain targets, including Aso Rock. But as 5pm came and passed, there was no information on the launch of any missile.

Residents went about their normal duties, seemingly unperturbed by the threat, while airlines conducted their normal businesses, despite the threat by the militant group that any aircraft found in the airspace was flying at great risk.

On Monday, in a statement released by its Commander, General Duties, General Akotebe Darikoro, and three others, the militant group had warned of an attack, stating its resolve that the Nigerian communication satellite orbit would be shut down to avoid the cause of electronic radiation to human lives.

The Niger Delta Avengers has kicked against this planned missile launch by the JNDLF; even as the Federal Government halted military activities in the region in order to allow for dialogue with the militants.
