According to a psychiatrist, Matthew Lorbor, in cases where one spouse dies after the death of a partner, it is usually due to broken heart syndrome. Lorbor said: "Broken heart syndrome, which is, in fact, a real thing. It is when someone finds out some shocking news, typically terrible news. There’s a massive release of these stress hormones that are released into the bloodstream, and the heart is then bombarded with these stress hormones.
