Tragedy as four more pupils drown in Jigawa river
The Jigawa State Command of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, has confirmed the death of another four pupils of Nasakar village in Ringim local government area after they drowned in river.
The command’s public relations officer, SC. Adamu Shehu, confirmed the incident to DAILY POST in Dutse, disclosing that all the boys were of Jigawa Kadage Islamiyya primary school, and were in class three. He explained that the incident happened on 21st May, 2019 at around 1000hrs when four children died while swimming at River Bagudu at Nakasar village of Ringim. The deceased are: Badamasi Rabiu 10yrs, Dallami Rabiu 8yrs, Zaharadden Rabiu 7yrs, and one Ibrahim Shaaibu 8yrs.
Adamu Shehu said three of the victims were of the same father while the other was of a different father. He said their bodies were recovered and already buried immediately according to Islamic teachings. Recall that on Wednesday 22 May 2019, DAILY POST reported the death of 15-year-old Usman Kabiru and a JSS 3 student at Abdullahi Maimasallaci secondary school in a similar incident in the same local government. The command also advised parents and guardians to always control the movement of their children at every given time to avoid possible recurrence. Shehu said the incidents are happening due to the overflow of rivers, especially during the rainy season.
