Woman stabs herself with eyeliner stick while doing make-up in the car

This is a cautionary tale for anyone who does their make-up on their commute.

A woman doing her make-up in a car has been rushed to hospital after she stabbed herself in the eye with an eyeliner stick when her taxi was involved in a minor collision.

She was on her way to see friends when the taxi she was in bumped into another vehicle in a traffic jam in Bangkok, Thailand.

The woman, who was in her 20s, hit the seat in front when the taxi knocked the white pick-up truck in front of them.

Incredibly for the woman, the stick didn't penetrate her eyeball and her sight will not be affected by the accident.

NEWS COPY - WITH PICTURES A woman who was doing her make-up in the back of a taxi was rushed to hospital yesterday (Tue) when the car had a bump - and her eyebrow pencil stabbed into her EYE. The woman in her 20s was sitting in the rear passenger seat of the yellow and green Toyota during a slow-moving traffic jam at 5.20pm in Bangkok, Thailand, while applying the eye-liner on the way to see friends. But the cabbie wasn't concentrating and shunted the white pick-up truck in front - jolting the girl forward. With the pencil still in her hand, she hit the seat in front and it stabbed herself in the face. Miraculously, the make-up stick missed the vital organs around the left eye and her sight will be unaffected, according to medics who treated her. Paramedic Thanabodee Sabbodi said that the crash was minor but that the ''freak accident'' had caused half of the pencil to plunge into the eye socket of the young woman, who has not been identified. He said: ''The crash happened at 5.20pm in Din Daeng area of Bangkok while the lady was putting on make-up on her way outside for the evening. ''We received a call and there was one injured female with an eyebrow pencil inserted into her left eye. ''She was in a lot of pain when we came but she could still talk to us and explain what happened. There was not a lot of blood but she had a small nose bleed.'' The girl was still conscious and taken to the Rajavithi Hospital where medics removed the pencil without any lasting injuries. Thanabodee added: ''The rescue team and the doctors did a great job to help the victim. This should be a warning to women who do their make-up while cars are still running because accidents can always happen. ''This was a strange accident and unexpected but nobody can predict these incidents. We have to be prepared.'' ENDS
