Buhari appoints Gambo, as NACA DG resigns.

The Director-General of the National Agency for the Control of AIDS, Prof Sani Aliyu, has resigned his appointment one year to the end of his tenure. President Muhammadu Buhari has therefore approved the appointment of Dr Gambo Aliyu as the new director general. This was announced by Olusegun Adekunle, Permanent Secretary, General Services, Office of Secretary of the Government of the Federation, who said the “appointment is for an initial term of four years and takes effect from June 26, 2019.” The statement read in part,
“The new DG is an epidemiologist and Public Health specialist, he was the chief of party for the Nigeria Indicator and Impact Survey until his appointment. “He attended the Ahmadu Bello University of Zaria, Nigeria, where he obtained Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery in 1995, later proceed to University of Maryland, to obtain PhD in Epidemiology in 2012.”
