American rapper T.I has sparked outrage after admitting during an interview that he takes his 18-year-old daughter to a gynaecologist to confirm her virginity.
        The Whatever You Like musician was accused of furthering the patriarchal agenda after claiming the virginity tests Deyjah Harris was subjected to were an annual tradition. During a sit down with Ladies Like Us podcast, the rapper revealed his child’s birthdays were always accompanied by trips to the doctor ever since she turned 16. The father of six also known as Clifford Harris claimed while Deyjah is usually busy unwrapping her gifts, he pens down a reminder that she must see a specialist the next day at 9.30am. “Usually like the day after the party, while she is enjoying her gifts, I put a sticky note on the door reading Gyno tomorrow at 9:30,” the rapper said. The 39-year-old added that each time he went to the doctor he would point out Deyjah does not ride horses or the bike so her hymen was required to be intact. “Look doc, she does not ride any horses, any bike, she does not play any sports, man just check the hymen and give me back my results,” T.I would demand. Social media erupted into flames after the leaked podcast made rounds on the internet. Feminists and angry parents criticised the rapper for invading his daughter’s privacy and being way too chauvinist. According to most celebrities, what Deyjah was put through can be described as emotional torture and she needed therapy as soon as possible. Some even brought up the musician’s ugly, cheating past and pointed out he was in no position to play judge and jury since he was providing the wrong guidance for his kids. To them, T.I is an imperfect man who holds his daughter to different standards.
