Man to sweep Osun streets for stealing fish

An Osun State Magistrate's court sitting in Osogbo has sentenced a 21-year-old man, Sunday Oyeniyi to eight days sweeping punishment for stealing six pieces of live fish.
The Police Prosecutor, Inspector Fagboyinbo Abiodun, told the court that the accused stole the six fishes worth N3,000 from a fish pond belonging to one Mr Olatujoye Gbenga on January 10, 2016.
Abiodun said the fish pond was located at Power line Tension area of Halleluyah Estate in Osogbo.
The prosecution then argued that the accused committed an offence contrary to and punishable under Section 390 of the Criminal Code, Cap 34, Vol II, Laws of Osun State, Nigeria, 2003.
When the one-count charge of stealing levelled against the accused was read to him, he pleaded guilty to the offence.
The presiding Judge, Magistrate Adejumoke Olowolagba while handing down the community service sentence said it would start from March 4 (today) to March 11, 2016
