Oscar winning actress, Jennifer Lawrence has said she will be taking a year sabbatical from acting to focus on her activism.
Lawrence, who is one of the world's highest paid actress, said the reason for taking 12 months off is to get more young people engaged politically. She is already on the board of Represent.Us. alongside director David O. Russell.
While promoting her upcoming movie, "Red Sparrow", the Hunger Games star told "I'm going to take the next year off, I'm going to be working with this organisation as a part of Represent. Us ... trying to get young people engaged politically on a local level. It doesn't have anything to do with partisan politics."
"It's just anti-corruption and stuff trying to pass state-by-state laws that can help prevent corruption, fix our democracy."
Lawrence isn't new to activism as she had earlier in the year joined Cameron Diaz, and Adele at the 2018 Women's March in Los Angeles, which advocates for women's right and equality. Also in 2015, she was among the first batch of actresses who clamoured for wage equality in Hollywood.
