How Polytechnic Security Guard Killed Colleague On Duty
The police have arrested a security guard, Cletus Williams, over the alleged murder of his colleague, John Okoro, while they were on night duty in a polytechnic campus.
According to reports that the incident happened at the campus at Ikorodu, Lagos, where they were employed as guards. This was disclosed by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Bala Elkana. The Police however, did not disclose what would have made Williams to slit Okoro’s throat and whether the victim was sleeping on duty. DSP Elkana said that on 24th May, 2019, at about 7am, operatives of Shagamu Road Police Station in collaboration with the Chief Security Officer of the Lagos State Polytechnic, Ikorodu, arrested one Cletus Williams, a security guard with the polytechnic, over the murder of his colleague, Okoro John, while they were on night duty.
Elkana disclosed that the suspect used a sharp knife to slash the throat of the victim and also chopped off his right wrist. He said the matter has been transferred to the Homicide detectives at the State Criminal Investigation Department at Yaba for investigation. He explained that part of the investigation was to ascertain the motive behind the killing. He said that the knife Williams used for the alleged murder has been recovered as exhibit and was with the Police. Elkana said that the suspect will soon be charged to Court for murder after the conclusion of the investigations.
