Christian Eriksen has completed his move to Inter Milan. The Italian club announced that he had signed a four-year deal on Tuesday afternoon. The playmaker has finally left Tottenham after itching for a move away in the summer, with the Italian club paying around €20m for the Danish international.
Manchester United were thought to be in the mix to sign the 28-year-old, but once again the Red Devils have missed out on a potentially season-changing acquisition. The onus will be on the Dane to rediscover his best form with Inter as quickly as possible. Eriksen's final few months at Spurs were an unmitigated disaster, with the former Ajax man evidently with his mind elsewhere. Jose Mourinho still placed a degree of faith in him, but his departure to Italy is a solution which really does suit both parties now. Eriksen was signed by Spurs in the summer of 2013 for just £11.5m and he went on to become one of their finest players of the Premier League era. In his 225 league appearances, the Dane scored 51 goals and assisted 62 more, helping the club reach the Champions League final last season. He should be remembered as a Spurs legend, but his poor form during the last 12 months has slightly soured his reputation. Nevertheless, Inter and Antonio Conte are adding one of the world's elite playmakers to their already exciting roster. On his day, the 28-year-old is unplayable and the prospect of him supplying Romelu Lukaku and Lautaro Martinez is certainly mouthwatering. Inter fans will be praying the marquee signing of Eriksen can help deliver the Serie A title and end Juventus' dominance. Tottenham have already announced that they have signed Giovani Lo Celso on a permanent deal to replace the outgoing Eriksen.
