Boko Haram has been described as a dying horse. This assertion was made by Tukur Buratai, chief of army staff. Recall that the terrorist organisation has stepped up attacks on military formations and civilian population in the north-east.
The Army boss who disclosed this after the European parliament, claimed there has not been progress in the fight against Boko Haram insurgents. He consequently called on respected bodies not to make pronouncement that can affect the fight against insurgency. Going further, he reassured Nigerians that the counter insurgency operations in the north-east are still on course. Also, the Army boss told troops that all the sacrifices of their fallen colleagues would never be in vain. It was earlier reported that as part of the recovery efforts of the federal government in Borno state after Boko Haram terrorist activities, President Muhammadu Buhari approved the construction of 10,000 houses in the state. This was revealed by the governor of the state, Babagana Umaru Zulum, on Friday, January 10, on his official Twitter page. The kind and commendable gesture from the president came after Zulum paid a visit to Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) camps on Thursday, January 9, where he spent the night distributing items to about 1675 families. The governor also distributed blankets and mats to National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members to help them cope with the intense harmattan in the region. He also assured the IDPs of his unrelenting stance to help them resettle comfortably in their various communities. Even more, Zulum promised the IDPs that the federal government is doing its utmost to see that terrorism across Nigeria, especially in the state, will be a thing of the past soon.
