How 2 children abducted in 2016 were rescued by DSS
Two children who were abducted from Kebbi state on February 16, 2016, have been rescued by the personnel of the Department of State Service (DSS).
According to reports that the children aged 3 and 4, were reunited with their parents on Sunday, December 1. Some suspects connected with the abductions including a woman whose name was simply given as Aghata and two other accomplices, Moses and Samson have been arrested over the incident. The DSS also arrested three suspected child traffickers were in Enugu, Anambra and Lagos states respectively. Governor Abubakar Atiku Bagudu disclosed that the suspects were arrested in connection with the abduction and sale of the two children that were earlier rescued by the DSS on November 10, 2019, in Zuru area of the state. He stated that two more children more were recently being rescued by the DSS in Zuru area of the state The governor said the 4-year-old boy, Silan-Laini James was stolen while playing in front of his grandfather’s home at Sha Da Wanka in Tudun Wada, Zuru local government area of Kebbi state. He said months of investigations by the DSS following series of abductions that had taken place particularly in Zuru area of the state led to the rescue of the children. After being reunited with her son, mother of one of the rescued children, Mercy Daniel, urged mothers to be more vigilant with their children. There have being several reports of stolen children being recused of late, with the earliest being that of the children stolen in kano who were reunited with their family, it was also reported that some children stolen from Kaduna state were also reunited with their family. This has sparked rumors that there is a deliberate attempt at kidnapping kids from the north and taking them to the east or south to turn them into Christians.
