The Federal High Court sitting in Abuja has ordered the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to restore the Social Democratic Party (SDP)'s gubernatorial candidate, Natasha Akpoti, ahead of the Kogi gubernatorial poll.
Delivering the order to INEC on Thursday, November 7, Justice Folashade Ogunbanjo-Giwa said that the electoral body acted arbitrarily to have refused to regard the SDP and Akpoti as being legible for the forthcoming election, The Nation reports. Ogunbanjo-Giwa said that INEC has no right or power to disqualify candidates for the November 16 poll without an approval from a court. She therefore ordered the commission to return the SDP logo on the ballot papers that will be used for the poll.
