Bill Gates speaks about his relationship with Aliko Dangote
Former world richest man and co-chair of the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, Bill Gates, recently revealed how glad he is to have met and known Africa’s richest man, Aliko Dangote.
In a write up posted on his blog on Tuesday, October 1, Bill said he and his wife are lucky to have Dangote as their friend and partner in battling development issues in Africa. Bill revealed how a mutual friend hooked him up with Dangote at an event in New York and luckily for them, the two entrepreneurs shared the same interest in tackling health and education issues in sub-Sahara Africa. The world’s richest man for 18 years, Bill Gate, also highlighted the similarities between himself and Dangote both in business and their foundations. He narrated their first meeting which he said was like love at first sight. “Have you ever met someone new and immediately felt like you could talk to them for hours? That happened the first time I met Aliko Dangote. A couple of years ago, he and I ended up going to the same event in New York.” He also revealed that their first meeting revealed they have so many things in common. “As soon as we shook hands, it was clear we had a ton in common. We both started successful businesses in the late 1970s. For our second act in life, we both chose to start foundations aimed at improving health and education.” That first meeting ignited a relationship that has worked between the two billionaires which in 2016 saw their foundations announcing a joint five-year $100 million commitment to reducing malnutrition in Nigeria. Bill sum up his relationship with Dangote when he wrote that: Melinda and I are lucky to have him as a partner (and friend) in improving health.
