Police authorities in India arrested six Nigerian nationals on Saturday, September 14, the Telegraph India reports. A police official, Vivekanand Singh, quoted in the report, said the six Nigerians, travelling by night bus from Silchar to Guwahati, were detected and detained for interrogation.

The Nigerian nationals have been identified as Thomson Chizoram Nwafama, 29, Chijioke Agustus Obiacha 28, Desmond Chiemela Uzochkwu 25, Okoliegbe Henry Onyedika, 33, Okeke Ugochukwu Justin, 32, and Chukwunyere Chinaza Christian, 30. On Friday, September 13, three foreign nationals were detained and arrested in the same district. The modus operandi adopted by the three, one from Ivory Coast and two from Nigeria to enter India was the same as the one adopted by the six Nigerians. The three foreign nationals have been identified as Nnyigide Jamina Okenchukwu, 48 and Okeke Ifechukwu John, 27, from Nigeria, and Koman Daniel, 21 also from Nigeria but holding an Ivory Coast passport. To a query, Singh said as per preliminary investigations, the nine nationals were planning to travel to Guwahati before heading for New Delhi.
