Buhari mourns ABTU students who died following bridge collapse
President Muhammadu Buhari has commiserated with the families of the students of Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University (ABTU), Bauchi state, who died on Monday night, August 5 following the collapse of a bridge at the institution’s Gubi campus after a heavy downpour.
In a statement by one of his spokespersons, Garba Shehu, the president, who also condoled with management, staff and students of the university, described the development as “tragic, sad and unfortunate”. He expressed regret that, “these future leaders and potential family benefactors met such an untimely end.” Buhari prayed for rest for the souls of the dead, and that the bereaved families and university community would be consoled by Almighty God. The president also prayed for God to grant speedy healing to the injured students.
