EFCC Interrogates Mohammed Sani-Omolori National Assembly Clerk, Seizes Passport
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC on Thursday, grilled the clerk of the National Assembly, Mr. Mohammed Sani-Omolori over the legislature’s “finances” and other undisclosed issues.
It was that gathered that Omolori’s passport was seized after an intense interrogation that lasted over 6 hours. Inside sources reveal that he was also quizzed about the emergence of leaders in the 9th national assembly.The clerk oversees the election of new leaders in each assembly. The current method for election of principal officers in the two legislative chambers is an open secret, but the All Progressives Congress (APC) which is expected to produce the next crop of leaders is said to be advocating for a different method. The anti-graft agency asked Sani-Omolori for the records of the financial dealings of the national assembly. Sani-Omolori, whose international passport was seized by the anti-graft agency, was said to have duly cooperated with EFCC officers,” the report said. The agency is reportedly set to also invite the clerks of the senate, house of representatives and their deputies.
