Attack on water well site in Niger Republic leaves 8 killed

An attack on a water well site belonging to French drilling company, Foraco, on Thursday in southeastern Niger has lead to death of eight people, the Marseille-based company says.
A statement by the company reads: "Last night at 2 a.m. local time, a group of terrorists attacked the small building where a Foraco team was sleeping and killed seven of them, plus one civil servant".
It also added that five other employees were injured during the attack in Niger's Diffa region with two in serious condition.
The workers were drilling two deep water wells for the Niger's water ministry
Reuters news agency reports that security sources believes the armed men are member of Jihadist group Boko Haram, which is very active in the country's border region with Nigeria.
