Elder statesman and former minister Chief Tony Anenih dead at 85

A former Minister of Works and Housing and a party chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Chief Anthony Anenih has died at the aged of 85.
Chief Anthony Anenih, one of the founders of the PDP died on Sunday evening in Abuja. A family source said the elder statesman died at the the Cedar Crest Hospital in the nation's capital.
Born in Uzenema-Arue In Uromi, of Edo State, he was state chairman of the National Party of Nigeria (NPN) between 1981 and 1983, helping Samuel Ogbemudia's election as the governor of the then Bendel State.
He served the first governor-general of Nigeria, Dr. Nnamdi Azikiwe, as an orderly during his time as an office with the police.
Anenih was an instrumental in the election of former President Olusegun Obasanjo, later becoming the chairman of the party's board of trustees.
