Two men have been wounded by an explosion, in Texas' capital, Austin, on Sunday. Agents from the Federal Bureau of Investigation could be seen at the scene.
During a press conference, Austin Police Chief Brian Manley said that the wounded men have been taken to a hospital and their injuries were not life threatening. He also advised that residents should remain indoors and avoid touching any suspicious packages.
"We have a scene where it is obvious an explosion has taken place," Chief Manley said. "We just simply do not know a lot at this point."
Chief Manley did not disclose if there's a connection between this incident and an explosion when two people were killed by three parcel bombs earlier this month.
The Federal Bureau of Investigation announced through Twitter that its agent as well as agents from the U.S. Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) were attending to the scene, a residential neighborhood on the west side of the city, miles away from the east side neighborhoods where the earlier blasts occurred.
"Residents in immediate area ... wait in your homes and follow instructions of officers," Austin police said on their Twitter feed. The police also believes the perpetrators of the bombing are trying to send a message, calling on them to contact authorities and explain their motives (if any).
"We are not going to understand that (message) until the suspect or suspects reach out to us to talk to us about what that message was," Manley said.
Manley noted the the bombings would be investigated as possible hate crimes.
