Edo State House of Assembly has given Governor Oshiomhole access to the sum of N366m bailout funds from the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).
The bailout will be for payment of salary arrears of Egor Local Government workers who have been owed for 16 months.
The lawmakers came to a resolution following a request by Oshiomhole to the emergency plenary on Monday which stated that the fund would be used to pay salary arrears of the council workers.
Majority Leader, Hon Folly Ogedengbe, who moved the motion, said Egor council was omitted in the list of the bailout fund earlier sent to the CBN, noting that the resolution was meant to capture needs of the council staff that were left out.
The Speaker of the House, Hon Elizabeth Ativie, said the lawmakers called off their recess to consider the interest of Egor council workers and put smile on their faces.
